In perfumery vocabulary, Moss Absolute IFRA is associated with dry moss, woody, earthy, leathery, muted green and phenolic. Its creative role is a deep base-note material with architectural presence, giving structure and character to complex accords.
In the organ, use it to build shape a controlled chypre shadow, enrich dry down fougere structures and introduce add forest-floor realism. As base note, it offers signature rather than mere theme.
Absolute extraction preserves a broad, saturated portrait of the source. Traditionally, fragrant biomass is first solvent-extracted and the resulting concrete or resinoid is purified with alcohol, giving perfumers a dense material rich in less-volatile facets.
