Extraction & expression

A resinoid is generally obtained by solvent extraction of dry botanical matter, gums, balsams or resins. It emphasises the low, enveloping register: balsamic warmth, texture and slow diffusion. Molecular or short-path distillation selects the profile under high vacuum, often refining colour and separating lighter from heavier registers.
